Bennett, Earl S., 79, of Upper Yoder Twp. Passed away on April 28, 2015 at Windber Hospice. He was born on March 19, 1936, in South Fork, son of the late Frank and Ora (Ressler) Bennett. Preceded in death by his wife, Shirley M. (Oaks);
brother, Roy D. Bennett and brothers-in-law, Willard âRussellâ Jones and James Townsend. He is survived by his loving daughter; Cynthia M. wife of Charles Ickes, Johnstown; grandchildren, Courtney M. Ickes, Masontown, PA and Cpl. Charles R. Ickes III, USMC; sisters, Anna Townsend, Portage and Dorothy Jones, South Fork and several nieces and nephews; and many friends at Laurel Wood Apts. Earl was a 1954 graduate of South Fork Croyle High School. He was US Army National Guard veteran serving in the Headquarters Company 876th Engineer Battalion. Earl was employed at M. Glosser and Sons Inc. as Manager of the Plumbing and Heating Department. He later retired from D. W. Rhoads, Somerset where he was employed as an inside salesman. Earl was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown, where he was a past coach for the Varsity Football Team and Soccer Team. He was also a member of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Company; life member of the South Fork Volunteer Fire Company and the Cambria County Volunteer Firemenâs Association.. Earl enjoyed bowling, woodworking, and playing cards and loved spending time with his daughter and grandchildren and family. Friends received from 4-8 P.M., Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Friday at St. Benedict Church, Fr. David S. Peles. Entombment will be at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be directed to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave. Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Earl.
