Pote, Dr. Harry H., Jr.,76, of Johnstown. He died March 25, 2019, at home. Born September 17, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA. Son of the late Harry Harvey and Gertrude Emma (Lawton) Pote. Survived by wife of 49 years, Marjorie L (Lipcosky); children Timothy (Beth), Michael (Tiffany), and Kristin (Anthony Fetter); Grandchildren Jazmyne Kuhn, Emma, Jasper, Nicholas, and Harrison Pote. Brother of John (Judy) Pote. Nephews Jeffrey (Bridget) and John Pote. Great-nephew Ryan Pote, and numerous cousins, relatives and friends. Graduate of Ridley Park High School, Ursinus College with BS in Chemistry, Biology and Physics, Temple University School of Medicine with MD and completion of Internal Medicine Residency. Hahnemann Medical Center Fellowship in Nephrology in 1975. He moved to Johnstown upon completion of fellowship and joined the medical staff of Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Lee Hospital July 1, 1975 and worked in a career he loved until the day he passed away. Dr. Pote devoted his professional life to serving others. Over his career he served as President of the Medical Staff, Chief of Medicine, Medical Director of the dialysis unit, Detox, and Exceptional Care Unit as well as on executive committees. He loved sports and the outdoors, played football and was an avid runner and cyclist, completing several marathons and triathlons. Dr. Pote was in his late sixties when he and his family participated in the Tour Davita for four years. This was a charity bicycle ride to raise money for patients with End Stage Renal Disease by biking for 240 miles each time. Harry enjoyed many things, including golfing with friends, painting with his daughter, swimming with his grandchildren, fishing with his family, and antique cars and motorcycles. He and Marge traveled the world together, and loved each other unconditionally, creating a beautiful community surrounding them. He will be forever remembered for his trademark Hawaiian shirts, his sense of humor and his love for making others laugh. Friends received 1-5 pm Saturday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Private Service and Committal at convenience of family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either the arts or medicine in honor of his love for both to the Westmont Hilltop High School Art Club 200 Fair Oaks Drive, Johnstown PA, 15905 or to Highlands Health Clinic 340 Main St, Johnstown, PA 15901 or to any local charity of your choice.
