Miller, Douglas Foster, “Bear”, 61, of Lewistown, PA, formerly of Johnstown, passed away on October 9, 2013 at James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center. Born on March 21, 1952 in Johnstown. Son of the late Leroy and Avonel (West) Miller. He is survived by his loving children, Megan A., wife of Joseph Michael Donckers II, Shaftsbury, VT, Trinity L. Redwine, Harker Heights, TX, and Aaron Foster Miller, Lewistown, PA grandchildren, Philip Terran Redwine, Junah Bear and Bela Raine Donckers; siblings, Lenelle Jones, Alum Bank, Paul Miller, Westmont, and Gayle Swartz, Richland Township and numerous nieces and nephews. Bear was a graduate of Richland High School. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Bear was formerly employed at W.C. McQuaide Inc. as a dispatcher and truck driver and later at MCS Transportation and True Transportation, both of Lewistown, PA. He enjoyed a free spirited lifestyle and rock-n-roll music. Bear loved the open road and his grandsons. At Bear’s request there will be no public viewing, however relatives and friends will be received from 6 P.M. until time of memorial service at 7 P.M. on Saturday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Custeads officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team at the funeral home.  Private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests contributions be directed to James E. Van Zandt Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Social Work Needy Fund, 2907 Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona, PA 16602 in memory of Douglas Foster Miller.
