Brown, Douglas G., “Possum”, 61, of Jackson Township, went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2012 at his residence. Born on March 29, 1950 in Mineral Point. Son of Robert L. and Alma L. (Kepple) Brown. Preceded in death by parents and his first wife, Betty J. (Boring) Brown and a nephew, Daniel W. Lambing. He is survived by his loving fiance, Linda C. DeArmin, Jackson Township; children, Martha C. “Scherry” Conley and her fiancée, Steve Keckler both of Johnstown, William E. Ringler, married to the former Regina Weakland, Patton, Michael G. Ringler, married to the former Diane Sutherland, Loretto,  Lee A., wife of Jeff Jackson, Tomah, WI, Mia DeArmin and her fiancée, Christopher Chabot, Hereford, PA, John A. DeArmin Jr., married to the former Gale Gallagher, Gallitzin and Georgia A. DeArmin and her fiancée, Steven Sparks, Oklahoma City, OK; 22 grandchildren; great grandson, Matthew Brown, Johnstown; sisters, Adalee M., wife of Robert Lambing, Mineral Point, and Roseann G., wife of Robert Stephens, Johnstown; nieces, Cathleen Milanovich and her fiancée, Corey Sheesley , both of Twin Rocks, and Shannon, wife of Andrew Boswell, Johnstown; nephew, Charles Stephens, married to the former Trisha Wills, South Fork; great niece, Allie Boswell; great nephew, Shane Stephens and many friends. Douglas was a 1969 graduate of Central Cambria High School. He earned an associate degree from Fayette Institute of Technology. Douglas served in the US Army National Guard with the Military Police Unit during the Vietnam War. He was employed as the Road Master for 15 years in Brownstown prior to becoming an over the road truck driver for 22 years, where he was leased to Black Dog Trucking in East Freedom, PA. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, playing his guitar and restoring cars with his brother-in-law, Bob. Doug will be remembered as a great joke teller and loved more than anything driving his truck. Friends will be received from 3-7 P.M. on Friday and from 1 P.M. until time of service at 2 P.M. on Saturday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Ruth Moore and Rev. Arlene Bobrowitz officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. Private interment will be at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Mt. Olive United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2567 Benshoff Hill Road, Johnstown, PA 15909 in memory of Doug. The family will be planting a tree in memory of Doug as a living memorial. On line condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
