Dorothy Joan Shawley

Shawley – Dorothy Joan, 86, of Richland. Died unexpectedly, surrounded by her loving family on May 14, 2017, at Conemaugh Medical Center. Born May 10, 1931, in Johnstown. Daughter of the late Raymond J. and Mary F. (Desort) Murphy. Also, preceded in death by husband, Maurice “Ed “; and sister Barbara Cvijanovich. Survived by children; James (Pam Alberter), Gary (Cindy Debias), Diane McCombie, Denise (David R.) Layman and Donna (Jeff) Freshour;10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sister in law, Mary (Pat) Shawley; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, “Babe”. A 1949 Graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. Dorothy enjoyed their cottage in Bedford, her in ground swimming pool at home, ice and roller skating in her younger years and watching hockey, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends received 2-8 PM Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where service will be held at 11 AM Thursday. Rev. Barron Deffenbaugh, officiating.
