Dorothy M. Matala

Matala – Dorothy M. “Dot”, 92, East Taylor Township, went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. Born on October 24, 1922 in Johnstown, daughter of Jacob and Jennie (Kozmernik) Draksler. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Matala Sr.; brothers, John, Andy, Joe, Jack, and Felix; sisters, Mary Oliver, Marie Slabe, Sophie Hrescak, Jennie Gorchesky and Agnes “Aggie” Hamula and her beloved pets, Duke and Cocoa. She is survived by her loving children, Donna, wife of Joe Antal and special friend Tony, Michael Jr., married to the former Linda Blanda, and , Kathy Matala and companion, Charles Urban; grandchildren, Joseph Antal, Erin Reed, Stacy Stahl, Devin and Brandy Matala, and Lacey Urban; great grandchildren, Haylee Reed, Lila and Cadence Stahl, and Aubrina Eisenhuth; sister-in-law, Rose (Benchina) Draksler; several nieces, nephews, including special nephew, Pete Macesich and loving care givers, Carole Lowery, Sarah Cook, and Gretchen Price-Roles and many friends. Dot enjoyed playing BINGO with her friends, gardening, yard work and going to Atlantic City. She will be remembered as a great cook and her sense of humor. Dot enjoyed hosting family gatherings during the holidays and loved spending time with her entire family, especially her grandchildren. She is finally reunited with the love of her life, Michael Sr. At Dot’s request there will be no public viewing or service. Private inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh. The family suggests contributions be directed to the East Taylor Volunteer Fire Company, 403 Donruth Lane, Johnstown, PA 15909 or a charity of one’s choice in memory of Dorothy.
