Dorothy J. Cassidy

Cassidy, Dorothy J., 89, of Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2012 at Windber Hospice. She was born on March 18, 1923 in Johnstown. Daughter of Frank H. and G. Verle (Carmany) Helsel. Preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mildred Summers, Virginia Caltabach, Lois Strayer; brothers, Frank, Jack, Bob, Durwood and David Helsel and Bill Miller. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Raymond F. Cassidy, Richland Township; children, Patricia Feathers, Mary Lou Yarnavick, S. Michael, married to the former Rae Ann Komis and Raymond, married to the former Connie Gaunt all of Richland Township; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Marion Bash, Gig Harbor, WA and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a 1940 graduate of Dale High School. She was employed at Richland High School as a cook. Dorothy was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles and Jumbles. Dorothy loved spending time with her entire family. Friends will be received from 3-7 P.M. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Funeral service will be at 11 A.M. on Saturday at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Custeads officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Dorothy.
