Doris Ruth McKeel

McKeel – Doris Ruth, 95, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2022. Born on April 2, 1927 in Johnstown, daughter of Valentine Blaine and Nellie Mae (Daughenbaugh) Teeter. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl W. McKeel; son-in-law, Gary K. Hoover; siblings, brother Marlin Teeter Sr., sisters Elda Beistel, Margaret Nealen and Mildred Reitler. She is survived by her loving children, James W. (Harriet) McKeel, Belsano, PA, Carol M. (Alan) Hoover-Oldham, Richland Township, and Candace D. (Jedidiah) Elam, Friedens, PA; grandchildren, Jason McKeel, Justin (Lisa) McKeel, Monica Niel, Jacqueline  Saylor, Adrianne (Lawrence) Stouffer, Lydia (Elliott) Vassas, and Eli Gibson; seven great-grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was a graduate of Conemaugh High School. During WWII she was employed at LEMPCO Industries of Cleveland Ohio producing shells. She was also employed at the former Jolly Roger as a waitress and later retired after 10 years of service from J.C. Penney as a sales associate. Doris was a long-time member of the Windber Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Doris loved talking to people and spending time with her family. Our mom enjoyed riding on Jimmy’s Harley with him and sitting in the sun at home on the deck. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2023 and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2023, at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Rob Osborn and Mike Long officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery.
