Dora E. Custer

Custer, Dora E., 98, of East Conemaugh, died June 21, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center. Born October 31, 1919, in Jackson Twp., daughter of the late Chester and  Medical Olive (Howard) Hildebrand. Preceded in death by, husband of 46 years, John C. who died December 17, 1987, son-in-law, Paul Hughes, brothers, Raymond, Roy, Clair, Chester and Ronald. Survived by loving daughters, Diane Hughes, Cindy Slaventa and husband, Ray, grandson, J.R. (Amanda Jones) Slaventa, granddaughter, Marisa Slaventa and fiancé, Bobby Huff and great-grandson, Dylan Slaventa. Sister of Blanche (Rolish) Shiley, Donald (Anna) Hildebrand. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. 1937 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. Member of Summit Chapel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Dora was a loving wife, mother and Nana. She enjoyed working with the United Methodist Women group with their many activities. Dora enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. She traveled to Disney World three times with her daughter, Cindy, grandchildren, J.R. and Marisa and the Bishop McCort Marching Band. The family would like to thank the staff of the Transitional Care Unit at Lee Campus of Memorial Medical Center and the staff of the E.R. and Palliative Care Unit. Friends received from 2 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. Sunday at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Keith Lohr, officiating. Private interment, Armagh Cemetery.
