Tomb, Donald A.,âDonâ, 90, of Johnstown. Died Dec. 20, 2011. Born Sept. 9, 1921, in Johnstown. Son of Virgil H. and Emma Blanche (Snyder) Tomb. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 51 years, Patricia (Partsch); and sister Frances Louise and her husband Dr. Gordon Bell; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary Rose and Ralph Brush, Andy and Appolonia âPeggyâ Genesi, Robert and Rosemary Partsch, Francis and Mez Partsch, Raymond âMoonâ Partsch, Ben Partsch and faithful companions Puma and Spots. Survived by daughter, JoAnn and loving kitty Tribbles; brother Kenneth AZ; and brothers and sisters-in-law , Ted and Shirley Partsch, Vera Mae âSisâ Partsch, Dolores Partsch, NJ; and Eugene and Peg Partsch, AZ. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Don served as a camera repairman in the Army Air Force 24th Combat Mapping Squadron during WWII in the China-Burma- India Theater. In his later years he was a proud member of the China-Burma-India Veteranâs Association. Don was a photographer for Cover Studio in Johnstown where he took many high school activity group pictures and photographed many weddings. It was not unusual for a stranger to come up to him and tell him that he had photographed their wedding or their high school group. Don loved to spend summers at his camper but his biggest passion was to âflyâ airplanes for hours on his flight simulator on the computer. Having learned to use the computer at age 80 he became very computer savvy and used it to keep in touch with relatives and old army buddies. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where a Celebration of his Life will be held at 2 pm Friday. Entombment with military rites by Menoher Post # 155, VFW Ritual Team at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum.
