Don Parkins

Parkins, Donald D. “Parky”, 85, Johnstown. Died Jan. 30, 2016, at Country Manor Living in Jerome, PA. Born June 4, 1930, in Johnstown. Son of the late Delbert and Gladys (Bauder) Parkins. Also preceded in death by sister, Leatrice “Pete” Woodruff. Survived by wife, Sally (Hoffman); children, Von (Marsha Sleek), Richland; Lynn (Tammy Coleman), Leesburg, VA; and Jay (Laura Havener), Elizabethtown, PA; grandchildren, Shaina (Nathan) Thomas, Craig and Jake (Ashley) Parkins; Andy and Philip Parkins; and  Anne (John) Shank and Ellen Parkins. Great grandchildren, Norah, Owen, Leora, Locklyn and Hollis; and Gavin and Grayson; Sister, Evelyn (Jim) Haggerty; and brother in law, Ken Woodruff. 1949 graduate of Johnstown High School. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Retired from Union Local # 354. Plumbers and Pipefitters. Don was a good Christian man who would help anyone who needed help. Friends received 3 to 8 PM Sunday and 10 AM to time of service at 11 AM Monday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Rev. Gary Tustin, officiating. Interment at Richland Cemetery.
