GILKEY- Denise M., 58, Richland Township died June 28, 2020, surrounded by her sisters and niece after a long courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born March 15, 1962, in Johnstown, daughter of Dean and Theresa Thomas, Johnstown. Preceded in death by beloved husband Ira Gilkey, loving mother Theresa Thomas and in-laws Edward and Arlene Gilkey. She is survived by her father Dean, sister Diane Hilands (Mike), brother Chris Thomas (Nancy), sister Robin Omasta (Steve), Tracy Gawel (Doug), and brother-in-law Edward Gilkey, Jr. all of Johnstown. She was a wonderful aunt to Kristy, Alison and Michael Hilands; Ryan Thomas, Nicole McCreary (Brandon), Alyssa and Madison Thomas; Jennifer Gilbert (Tim) and Dana Toscano (Anthony); Alaina and Marlina Gawel; Amy Struzinski; and great nephews Noah Gilbert and Cameron McCreary and great niece Emily Gilbert. Denise was a graduate of Richland High School and Saint Francis University. She was a dedicated employee of Saint Francis University for over twenty years. Denise found great satisfaction in life by caring for others and nothing made her happier than working in her yard. She was greatly loved and she will be sadly missed. Denise was a former member of St. Rochus Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. Benedict Church, Geistown where a Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Church with Fr. David S. Peles officiating. Face masks and social distancing are required at church. Committal, Richland Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Stotler and his staff for their many years of dedicated care of Denise.
