Miller – Dean W., 93, Richland, went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2021 due to complications from Covid-19. Born on October 31, 1928 in Johnstown, son of Edward and Dora (Howard) Miller. Preceded in death by his parents, sons, James and Robert, and brother, Frederick. Dean is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Terrie A. (Weaver) Miller, daughters, Kellie A. Kemp, North Huntingdon, PA, and Erin L. (Tim) Sherwood, Spotsylvania, VA; grandchildren, Tyler (Amber) and Zachary Hall, Mackenzie Kemp, Jack, Alec, Nathan and Drew Sherwood. Dean was a 1946 graduate of Ferndale High School. He was a US Navy Veteran and served his Country during WWII. Dean was owner and operator of Miller Block Company, Johnstown. Committed to the Greater Johnstown Community, Dean attended West Hills Community Church; lifetime member of both the Greater Johnstown Lodge #538 F&AM, and the Elks, Lodge #175. He served as President of the Johnstown Rotary Club and longtime President of the Pennsylvania Concrete Masonry Association. An avid pilot, Dean loved to take to the skies in his twin-engine Cessna. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his camp buddies, Ron Samuel and John Adams. Above all, “Pappy Dean” loved spending time with his family and having a house full of grandchildren. He will be forever loved and missed by his family. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, November 26th at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where an Elks service will be held. An additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 27th, at West Hills Community Church, 2301 Sunshine Avenue, Johnstown, with the Pastor David Streets officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to West Hills Community Church or Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Dean.
