David J. Kachmar

KACHMAR---David J., 81, Richland passed away on July 9, 2022 at home. Born February 19, 1941, in Johnstown, son of Michael and Mary (Singel) Kachmar. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Maxine Rae (Wadsworth) Kachmar; sisters, Elaine Kachmar and Evelyn Smolar. Survived by brothers and sister, Michael Kachmar, Richland; Robert (Sharon) Kachmar, Richland, Patricia (Curtis) Costlow, Richland; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. David’s dog, Sadie was the joy of his life. Graduate of Beaverdale-Wilmore High School. US Army veteran having served in Germany as a medical specialist. David was a manager at AT&T and later Verizon. David was a member of St. Michael American Legion, Post #551 and an active member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Windber where he was an usher and helped with other activities. At David’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2022 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Windber, with Fr. Larry Lacovic officiating. Committal South Fork Cemetery, with military graveside rites by St. Michael American Legion, Post #551. The family suggests memorial contributions to Somerset Chapter of Birthright, 238 W. Union St., Somerset, PA 15501, in memory of David J. Kachmar. The family is being served by Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
