David R. Azar

Azar – David R., 61, Richland Township, died on September 9, 2018 at Windber
Hospice Palliative Care Unit. Born on January 6, 1957, son of the late Stanley
Azar and the late Anne (Zappernich) Azar.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Charlene (Cummins) Azar, Richland
Township; son, Benjamin Azar, Richland Township; daughter, Heidi (Matthew)
McGuire, Johnstown; granddaughters Samantha and Jessica McGuire. David
was the youngest of six children; brothers George (Kay) Azar; James (Rita) Azar;
sisters Janet (the late John) Rok; Kathy (Don) McMillan; Mary (David) Thomas,
and many nieces and nephews.
David graduated in 1974 from the Greater Johnstown Area Vocational
Technical School. Post high school he garnered an admirable and rare work
ethic, which he carried with him throughout thirty-three years employed as a
diesel mechanic by the Cambria County Transit Authority.
Mr. Azar was a kind and generous man with a quick wit; defined being a ‘good
neighbor,’ always ready to step up and lend a hand. David was the essence of a
devoted husband, father, brother, son and most of all, friend. He will be missed
every day.
At David’s request, there will be no public viewing or service. The family is
being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
