Stoup, Cyril J., 90, formerly of Richland Township, passed away on June 2, 2011 at the Church of the Brethren Home, Windber. He was born on August 5, 1920 in Johnstown. Son of John A, and Mary J. (Euen) Stoup. Cyril was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; brother, James P., and sister-in-law, Beverly. He is survived by sons, John D., married to the former Betty Stine, Hagerstown, MD., and Richard J., married to the former Frances Perry, Statesville, NC.; grandchildren, John R. and David C. both of Hagerstown, Marianne D., Key Largo FL., Richard M., and Brian J. both of Mooresville, NC.; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Johnna Stoup both of Hagerstown, and Haley and Kenan Stoup, both of Mooresville, NC. Cyril graduated in 1938 from the former Johnstown High School. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII, at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen Maryland, and with the First Armored Division at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was retired from Bethlehem Steelâs Industrial Engineering Department. Cyril was a member of Saint Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown for over 50 years. Friends will be received from 6-8 P.M. on Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where a Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team.
