Deitke – Charles W., “Sonny”, 87, of Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2016 at his residence. Born on November 30, 1928 in Johnstown, son of Charles and Elizabeth C. (Fombank) Deitke. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret “Marge” (Serokman) Deitke; sisters, Grace Davis and Marion Cockrell, and a brother, Ronald G. He is survived by his loving son, Gary W.; grandchildren, Brittany, wife of Dustin Long, Courtney, wife of Dustin Spayde, Emily, Charles, and Abigail; great grandson, Jacob J.; sisters, Barbara A., wife of Don Varner and Connie L, wife of Larry Roberts; brothers, Tom, married to the former Margaret “Peg” Dernar and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from Jim Dewar Oldsmobile after over 25 years of service as an auto body repairman. Charlie was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church; Richland American Legion Post #849; Korean War Veterans Association, and life member of Solomon Run Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching the Pirates, and going to lunch with his friends. Charlie loved going to hunting camp with his son, Gary and spending time with his grandchildren. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to either Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 or to UPMC Montefiore Stroke Rehab Unit, 3459 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 in memory of Charles.
