Gillin - Chalmer C., âChalâ, 89, of Moxham went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on January 29, 1925 in Mineral Point. Son of the late Charles R. and Mary Jane (Hildebrand) Gillin. Also preceded in death by wife, Margaret Ruth âPeggyâ (Hohan) Gillin; infant children Deborah Kaye and Jennifer Lynne; and these brothers and sisters; Catherine Thiel, Carl, Marie Stephens, Rhoda Hall, Alverda Belanto, Leora Grumbling, Irene Dankert-Nicodemus, and Warren Dean. Survived by these children, Carol, wife of James Olivieri, Arizona, William A. âBillâ, Johnstown, and Mona L., at home. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Brother of Elmira Cobaugh, Kittanning. Chal was a 1943 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. He retired from the Shipping Department at Glosser Bros. Dept. Store after 46 years service. Chal was a member and Deacon Emeritus at the Conemaugh Church of the Brethren. He was also a former member of the Tri-Corner Hunting Club in Bedford County. Chal was a Smoke Jumper during WWII while in alternative service. After WWII, he made 2 trips to Poland with Heifer Project International. Friends will be received from 2â6 p.m. on Sunday at the Baker Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Conemaugh Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Horace âButchâ Derr officiating. Interment will be at Headricks Union Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Conemaugh Church of the Brethren, 1256 William Penn Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15909 in memory of Chalmer.
