Shiley, Carolyn, “Cookie”, 86, of East Conemaugh, passed away on June 29, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born October 5, 1925 in Johnstown. Daughter of Fredrick and Frieda (Fingerhoot) Kyle. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Ernest T. L. “Smokey” Shiley; brothers, Charles, John and Fredrick; sister, Frieda Frank and Liz Martin; grandson, Zachary Russell; granddaughter, Melissa Layton and a son in law, Ed Russell. Survived by loving children, Leona Russell, Franklin, Thomas, Carol and Vernon all of East Conemaugh, Becky wife of Nicholas Urban, Vinco, Jenny Goughnour, Moxham, Betty Layton, Franklin, Ruth Hastie, West End and Patty wife of Al Helsel, Brook Park, OH; 12 grandchildren, including special granddaughter/care giver, Elisha Layton; 10 great grandchildren, brother Edward, married to the former Louise Korber, Bon Air and numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn enjoyed cooking, flowers, wind chimes, puzzles, word searches, collecting angels, shopping and feeding birds. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Carolyn loved the Lord and always prayed for her family and friends. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. There will be no public viewing. A private family memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, 308 Fourth Street, Conemaugh, PA 15909 in memory of Carolyn.
