Brian L. Atkins

ATKINS – Brian L., 69, Windber, passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2025. Born April 11, 1955, in Johnstown, son of the late Walter and Betty (Tucker) Atkins. Survived by loving wife of 45 years, Denese (Brandle), daughter Heather (Atkins) Kaufman, son-in law, Keith and grandson Wes. Also survived by brother Tom (Rose) Atkins. Brian graduated from Conemaugh Township High School. He retired from US Steel/Johnstown Corporation with 39 years working in the foundry. Brian was the hardest working man who had a heart of gold. He and his daughter always had their summer projects that brought Brian the greatest joy and Pappy loved finding a tree for him and Wes to cut up together. When not driving his beloved Kubota or out on the mountain at camp he could be found in his garage, mowing the grass or cleaning his vehicles. Brian’s favorite place to be, when not at home, was in Alaska with his wife watching the scenery. He was the greatest husband, Dad, Pappy, friend, neighbor and brother to many. He so greatly appreciated all his friends who visited and shared their wonderful memories in his final days. He was at peace and ready to go home. Thank you to all the kind staff at Windber Hospice that treated Brian and his family with such love. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Friends will also be received from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Harris Funeral Home. with Pastor Susan Mentzer officiating.
