Boyd P. Kaufman

KAUFMAN---Boyd P., 81, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on 8/7/2024 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, PA. Born on January 11, 1943 in Johnstown, son of Kermit P. and Merna S. (Kelley) Kaufman. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Bertram. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Colette Maria (Oravitz) Kaufman, Richland; daughters Aimee (Christopher) Wonders, Johnstown, Beth (Shawn) Nihoff, Gibsonia, PA, and Megan (Matthew) White, Evans City, PA; grandchildren Katilin Wyatt and fiancé James Sumerfield, Pittsburgh, PA, Brandon Wyatt, Santa Fe, NM, Brady and Brooke Nihoff, both of Gibsonia, PA, and Zachary and Emily White, both of Evans City, PA. Brother of Kenneth Kaufman and wife Linda, Bethel Park, PA, and Cloyd Kaufman and wife Judy, Daisytown, PA. Boyd was a 1961 graduate of Ferndale High School. He was employed as a teacher for 18 years and later retired as a self-employed accountant after 36 years of service. Boyd was a member of PSE, NEA, and the East Hills Kiwanis. Boyd's greatest joy besides spending time with his family was sharing his faith with others. After attending Mass with his wife for more than 50 years, Boyd joined the Catholic Church at age 80. He was a familiar face at St. Benedict Community Breakfasts and Fish Fries as well as acting as chairman of the bingo tent for two years at the annual parish reunion. Boyd was a member of the men's group and his testimony will be remembered and shared. He loved Jesus and had no fear in meeting him in death. Those who love him mourn his absence on earth but rejoice that he is with his Savior in Heaven. At Boyd's request there will be no public viewing. Visitation will be held at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland from 2 pm to 5 pm on Monday 8/12/24, where vigil will also be held. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, 8/13/24 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Father David S. Peles, Pastor. Entombment, Richland Cemetery Mausoleum.
