Brant – Blanche Ellen, 92, of Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2017 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born March 13, 1925, in Johnstown, she was a 1st  generation American. Daughter of the late John H and Haverilda (Portman) Hinchliffe, who were from Yorkshire, England. Also preceded in death by her husband, Paul DeNeen Brant, who fought Alzheimer’s disease and for whom she cared for many years; brother, John; sisters, Edna McKowan, Phyllis Mitchell-Burnworth, and Irene Hillegas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by loving children, Dennis (Marlene Shaffer), Richland, Darlene (Thomas) Tiffany, Richland, Devra (Gregory) Kline, Hampton, VA, and Darren (Joann Beidle), Richland. Grandchildren, Heidi (Tim) Wyant, Damian (Stephanie) Brant, Bradley (Karen) Tiffany, Rebekah (Heath) Beckner, Douglas (Libby) Tiffany, Justin Kline, Nathan (Heather) Kline, Ashley Brant, Amanda (Michael) Mount, Lauren (David) Champe and Rachel Brant. Also, great grandchildren, Aidan, Isabella, Abigail, Andy, Courtney, Lilly, Noah, Tyler, Ava, Gabriella, Santino, Liam, and soon to be, baby girl Beckner; sister-in-law, Phyllis Hall, Martinsburg, WV; nephews, David Hillegas and Craig Hall, and special and longtime friend, Walter Mattern. Blanche was a 1943 graduate of Johnstown High School and was a member of their Reunion Committee. She was also a life-long member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and served for many years on the Altar Guild, Vestry, and Episcopal Church Women. Blanche was well known for her carrot cakes which she baked for Lenten Luncheons. She was also a member and former President of the Menoher Post #155 VFW, Ladies Auxiliary; YWCA, where she participated in water exercises for 30 years. Blanche retired from Thorofare Market after 11 years’ service. She resided in her home in Richland Township for 62 years up until 1 month before her passing. Blanche enjoyed baking, making homemade spaghetti sauce, and serving Yorkshire Pudding. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family would like to thank Dr. Larry Beatty and staff, Windber Hospice, and Arbutus Park Manor for their loving care. At Blanche’s request, there will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 335 Locust Street, Johnstown, PA 15901, with the Rev. Nancy Threadgill and Rev. Charles Martin officiating. Entombment at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. The family suggests contributions be directed to either St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 335 Locust Street, Johnstown, PA 15901; Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963, or to the YWCA, 526 Somerset St, Johnstown, PA 15901 in memory of Blanche.
