81, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2022. Born on June 16, 1941, in Johnstown, daughter of Francis and Helen (Valalsky) Grunza. Preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James Scaife; second husband, Edward Lucas; son, Brian K.; infant daughter, a brother, Edward, a brother Eugene, and infant brother, Charles. She is survived by her loving children, Dwayne and fiancé, Kay Ohler, Llanfair and, Sherri Hess, Johnstown; son-in-law, Wesley Hess, Johnstown; grandchildren, Shane W. (Olivia) Hess, Greensburg, Joshua L., and Breanna L. Hess, both of Johnstown; great-grandchildren, Ethan Hess, Sierra Hillegas, Dalaynie Hillegas, and Guinevere Hess; sisters, Mary Ann (Fred) Eppley, Orange City, FL., and Barbara (Robert) Harteis-Waul, Tobyhanna, PA, and a brother, Thomas Grunza, Pleasant Gap, PA and, numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was a graduate of Johnstown High School. She was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church. Betty enjoyed her plants and gardening. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. At Betty’s request, there will be no public viewing. A Memorial Devine Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Rev. Dr. Robert F. Oravetz. Private committal will be at Benshoff Hill Cemetery. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh.
