LING---Betty J., 87, formerly of 205 Hastings St., Johnstown, went to be with The Lord on December 13, 2019. Born November 22, 1932, in Johnstown, daughter of George and Blanche (Evans) Smith. Preceded in death by parents; and husband, Ralph G. Ling, brothers and sisters, Winifred, Shirley, Duane “Duke,” Audrey and George Ronald. Survived by children, Denise (Glenn) Kline, Grove City; Bill (Patty) Ling, Anacortes, WA; and Barbara (Lincoln) Paul, Kitchener, Ontario; grandchildren, Ryan and Nathan Ingram and Vanessa Barton; Zachariah Miller; Joseph, Jesse and Mitchell Paul; and 9 great-grandchildren; Betty had 27 nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Betty worked at U.S. Bank many years ago and was proud to be a volunteer tour guide at the Johnstown Inclined Plane. She was an active vocalist, writer, storyteller, historian, and teacher in all facets of ministry work. She loved speaking at churches, meetings and events. Volunteered in numerous roles at many churches. Betty had a great loyalty to Johnstown, its history and its people. Was an involved member of the former Lydia Intercession International Group. A public memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at Oakland United Methodist Church, with family officiating.
