Betty J. Bara

Bara – Betty J., 73, Dunlo, was called home on August 30, 2016, at her residence. Born on June 29, 1943 in Beaverdale, PA. Daughter of Michael and Jean (Long) Brandick. Preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Audrey Surap and Judy Hunter, brother Michael Brandick, and brothers-in-law, David “Hezzy” Bara and Anthony Surap. Survived by loving husband of 52 years, Kenneth A. Bara, Dunlo; children, Keith A., and his significant other, Margaret Ambrosi, Silver Spring, MD and Monica, wife of John Dillon Jr., Dunlo, PA; grandson, Zachary J. Dillon, Dunlo, PA; sister, Wilma “Button”, wife of Jim Poborsky, Salix, PA; sisters-in-law, Lois (Robert) Owens, Johnstown, Joan (Ed) Docherty, PIttsburgh, PA, Heather Brandick, Johnstown, and Betty Jean Bara, Windber, PA; brothers-in-law, Clifford Bara, Dunlo, PA and Terry Hunter, Salix, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was a 1961 graduate of Beaverdale Wilmore High School. Betty was employed as a seamstress for 30 years and later retired from Boscovs. She was a member of the former Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Dunlo. Betty enjoyed word searches, but her family was the most important part of her life. At Betty’s request there will be no public viewing. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Earl Butterfield officiating. Private inurnment will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery, Dunlo, PA. Family suggests donations be directed to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Betty.
