Mellott, Bertha Mae (Block), 93, Johnstown, died September 20, 2014 at Church of the Brethren Home, Windber. Born December 19, 1920, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Edward and Minnie (Gustkey) Block. She was the wife of the late Bernard A. Mellott, sister of the late Caroline, Margaret, Martha, Catherine, Dorothea, William, Henry, Edward and Herbert. She was the beloved mother of daughters, Romaine, wife of Lynn Klingel of York; Charmaine, wife of Paul Ziolkowski of  Boston, MA, Arlene, wife of N. James Kulic, Pittsburgh, and son, John Mellott, husband of Connie of Johnstown. She was the cherished grandmother of Tonya Smay, Heather, wife of Eric Rauls, Paul Ziolkowski Jr., husband of Sarah Fox, Zachary Ziolkowski, Hannah Kulic, Martha, wife of Michael DeSantis, Lindsey wife of Mike Tolino, and John Mellott III, husband of  Reighanna and beloved great-grandmother of Grant Finkelstein-Smay and Everett, Violet and Benjamin Rauls. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Bertha will be remembered by her family as the very best Mom and Gram.  She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church where she cooked many dinners and helped with the Hilltopper.  Bertha was the best cook ever and will be remembered by her friends for great buns, gobs, and all those fun bus trips to Atlantic City.  She was an avid Bingo player, bowler, and had an amazing greenthumb.  Those who knew her best, enjoyed her sense of humor and laughter. Family will receive friends from 3-7 P.M. on Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and from 11:00 AM until time of service at 12Noon on Monday at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Custeads officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery beside her husband, Bernard. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of the Church of the Brethren Home and her cousin, Pearl Zimmerman for the exceptional warm, loving care of  their Mother. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Church of the Brethren Home, 277 Hoffman Drive, Windber, PA 15963 or Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1000 Scalp Avenue , Johnstown, PA  15904 in memory of Bertha. On line condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
