Oparnico, Bernice J., 96, of Franklin Boro. Died Nov. 30, 2012, at The Villa Personal Care Home in Johnstown. Born April 27, 1916, in Portage, PA. Daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Macidym) Urbanski. Also preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Steve Oparnico; Step-father, John Sidor; sister, Julia Zalubski; and half-brother, Joseph Sidor. Survived by sons; Steve J., married to the former Helen Markiewicz, Parkhill; and Edward J., married to the former Jeanne (Pyshnik), Parkhill. Grandchildren; Lisa, wife of Brian Bair, Kristen, wife of John Page, Michael, Married to the former Glenda Johnson, Michell, married to the former Angela Schroeder, Theodore, married to the former Rebecca Freund. Great Grandchildren; Alyssa, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Meghan, Jordan, Brady, Bria, Halle, Madison, Berkley, Ryker, Koal and Pierson; and very special friend, Sharon Santichen. Member of the Church of the Transfiguration, formerly Assumption BVM; member & treasurer of St. Cecilia Choir; Trustee and former treasurer of Franklin Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Bernice enjoyed knitting, crocheting and the Monday Night Bowling League in Conemaugh. She was an outstanding cook and her recipes will be enjoyed by her family for many generations. Bernice loved to reminisce about the past and sharing her many stories. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, where Vigil Service will be held.
