Barbara L. Rager

Rager – Barbara L., 83, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2019, in Johnstown. Born on June 5, 1935, in Armagh, PA, daughter of Boyd E. and Mabel L. (Fry) Stiles. Preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband, Thomas D. Shomo; 2nd husband, Clair E. Rager. She is survived by her loving children, William Shomo, husband of Darlene (Carothers), VA, David Shomo, husband of Brenda (Gorman), VA, Barry Rager, Husband of Kim Kennedy, Central City, PA; step children, Bruce Rager, VA, Barbara, wife of Gary Reese, Davidsville, and Rev. Brian Rager, Boswell, PA; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Thomas, married to the former Donna Bloom, VA, LaRue, wife of Cyril Shomo, AZ and Boyd, married to the former Anita Smith, TN and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. At the church, she was a choir member for several years; taught the 4-year-old Sunday School, and volunteered in the nursery and kitchen. Barbara served on the Christian Women’s Club, and was a past queen for the Red Hat Society. She was also a member of the Richland Senior Center and the Raystown Coast Guard Auxiliary. Barbara enjoyed crocheting, knitting, dancing, and boating and camping at Raystown. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with the Pastor Kirk Rowland officiating. Private interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family suggests contributions be directed to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 425 Luther Road, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Barbara.
