Barbara A. McDannell

McDannell – Barbara A., “B”, 78, Richland, went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2025. Born on August 4, 1946 in Johnstown, daughter of Frank R. and Frances A. (Pristow) Hillman. Preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Tracy F. McDannell.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Cheri A. McDannell, and her fiancé, Keith Smith, Frederick, MD, and Michelle L. (Shane) Barkley, New Florence; grandsons, Shane Barkley Jr., and his fiancée, Gabby Piper, and Luke Barkley both of New Florence; sisters, Judi A. (Gary) Frazier, Richland, and Kathy Barron Ferenchik (Leonard), Johnstown; numerous nieces, nephews; many friends, including best friend, Kathy Onderko, Richland; the 64 girls; the Gym Rats; the Soul Survivors, and her Wednesday afternoon Bible study group.

Barb was a 1964 graduate of Richland High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. Barb retired from Sodexo Company at UPJ after numerous years of service. She was also a Cambria County Election Poll worker in Richland Township. Barb was a member of the Friends of Johnstown Flood, and the Solomon Run Fire Company Gob Ladies. Barb enjoyed volunteering at Flight 93, painting, and crafting. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Barb had an adventurous spirit, who was willing try anything.

At Barb’s request, there will be no public viewing. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 17th, at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Private inurnment will be at Richland Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center, 600 Somerset Ave, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Barbara.
