Ashok Vishram Padhiar

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr, Ashok Vishram Padhiar age 70 of Johnstown, Pa on January 2, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife Shelee Padhiar, his sister Bhanumati Vadher, his closest friend of over 50 years, Vijay Shah and his wife Rashmita, 3 nieces and nephews, and 6 great nieces and nephews. He also left behind his beloved cats Kitty, and Pepper.

 After graduating from medical school in Nairobi, Kenya in 1979, he immigrated to the United States in 1982, where he completed 1 year of a pediatric residency followed by a residency in Anesthesia. He started a long and successful career in Anesthesia in 1986. After retiring from Anesthesia, he began practicing Addiction Medicine, being board certified in both Anesthesia and Addiction Medicine. His devotion to his patients led to working well into December 2024.

Ashok was a dutiful son, brother, and husband. He enjoyed 34 years of marriage to his beloved wife Shelee. He was also a great lover of animals, having his first dog Jenny at age 6, and was a lifelong pet owner. His oldest cat lived to be 21, and he was preceded in death by his 19-year-old dog, Rusty.

 His passions included travel, technology, TV, and cars. All who knew him felt the warmth of his generosity. Ashok's presence filled the room, while his positivity allowed him to look for the best in even the darkest of times. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, colleagues and patients.

 Ashok will have his last rites ceremony on Tuesday 1/7/2025 with immediate family in attendance, followed by cremation. Harris Funeral Home 500 Cherry Ln. Richland.  Cremation by Laurel Highlands Crematory.
