Anthony E. "Tony" Plis

PLIS---Anthony E. “Tony,” 75, Walnut Grove, passed away on December 14, 2023 at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona. Born August 21, 1948 in Johnstown, son of Casimir and Helen (Korber) Plis. Preceded in death by parents; and sister, Patricia Dennis. Survived by loving wife of 45 years, Janet (Passeau) whom he married March 3, 1978; children, Scott (Mandy), Netherlands; Carrie (Jeffrey) McCray, Somerset; grandchildren, Shaun, Curtis, Jason, Ryan, Thomas, Chloe and Miley. Brother of Annie, Charles, Ronald and Richard. Tony was a USMC veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked at Bethlehem Steel for 17 years and then he was a Corrections Officer at SCI Laurel Highlands. He enjoyed yardwork, spending time with his grandchildren and doing remodeling jobs around the house. He liked spending evenings listening to the radio while sitting on the porch. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Member of Menoher VFW, Post #155 and former member of Conemaugh-Franklin American Legion and member of Church of the Transfiguration. The family will receive friends at  9:30 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, followed by Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Transfiguration, with Fr. Robert C.
