Anna Ruth Spangler

Spangler – Anna Ruth, 91, Hollsopple, went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2017 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born on May 8, 1925 in Johnstown, daughter of Ralph and Mary (Thomas) Lybarger. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack M.; siblings, Althea (Glen) Kaufman, Dorothy (David J.) Bowman, and David; son-in-law, Frank E. Webb, and brother-in-law, Dwayne Baumgardner. She is survived by her loving children, Tim J., married to the former Kimberly M. Lawn, Richland Township, Barry L, married to the former Mary Ann Panek, Salix, and Valerie F., wife of Scott H. Miller, Johnstown; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Esther Baumgardner, Richland Township, and R. George, married to the former Dorothy Valentine, Hollsopple; sister-in-law, Jill Spangler, Johnstown; brother-in-law, George W. Spangler, Windber, and numerous nieces and nephews. Anna Ruth was a graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. She was owner and operator of Spangler Ceramics and a seamstress. Anna Ruth was a lifelong member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, where most of her life she was a Sunday School Teacher. She was also active with the church quilting group, and church meals. After she and Jack retired, they were active in the St. Francis Clothing Store and the Hollsopple Food Pantry for many years. Anna Ruth enjoyed baking and working in her garden, especially with her flowers. She loved her family dearly and valued time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Guy L. Myers officiating. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Interment will be at Maple Spring Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to either Arbutus Park Manor, 207 Ottawa Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 or to Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, 106 Spring Road, Hollsopple, PA 15935 in memory of Anna Ruth.
