Anna E. Katawczik

Katawczik, Anna E., 93, of Conemaugh Township, went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2014 at Laurel View Village. Born on November 28, 1920 in Johnstown. Daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Resick) Russ. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husband, John “Bill” Katawczik; brother, Edward. She is survived by her loving children, Joanne, wife of John Peschock, Conemaugh Township and Robert J., married to the former Kathleen A. Ziner, Conemaugh Township; grandchildren, Kerri and Kevin Peschock, Lori and Christopher Katawczik; 2 great grandchildren,  brother, Frank Russ, Panama, NY and several nieces and nephews. Anna was a 1939 graduate of Franklin High School. She was a US Army Veteran serving with the WAAC during WW II. Anna was employed as a grocery bagger during high school at Glosser Brothers and then moved to Cleveland, OH, where she was employed at Jim Brown Fence & Wire as a book keeper. She was a member of Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Catholic Church, Daisytown. Anna enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She loved spending time with her entire family, especially with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 3-7 P.M. on Monday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be at 10 A.M. on Tuesday at Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Catholic Church, Daisytown, Father Robert Ruston. Entombment will be at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Conemaugh Valley Marine Corps. League, Det. #287.  The family suggests contributions be directed to Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Catholic Church, 120 Boltz Street, Johnstown, PA 15902 in memory of Anna.
