Anna H. Hagens

Hagens - Anna H., Richland Township, went to be with our Lord, on Saturday, August 6, 2016. Born August, 27, 1928, in Johnstown. Daughter of the late George and Susan (Vinisky) Sedlak. Also preceded in death by beloved husband of 46 years, John W.; sisters, Mildred Garretson, Ruth Sedlak, and brother, George Sedlak Jr. Survived by loving and devoted son, Dr. Gary A. Hagens, and wife Pat (Davis), Cincinnati, OH/Champaign, IL; daughters, Lori A. Knox, Davidsville and Kathleen, wife of Ronald Orletsky, Johnstown. Beloved and adored grandchildren, Jordan M. Knox, Sarah Hagens-Beurskens, Emily Hagens, Patrick Hagens, Sarah Orletsky and Michael Orletsky. Sister of Mary Jane Kemp and numerous nieces and nephews. Anna was a lifelong member of the former Saint John’s Evangelical Slovak Lutheran Church, Johnstown. She was fluent in Slovak and English. Anna was proud of her Slovak heritage and cherished Slovak traditions, culture, food and music. As an excellent baker, Anna was known for preparing traditional Slovak dishes. Most importantly, Anna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. “A Mother’s love is something that no one can explain, It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain, It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may For nothing can destroy it or take that love away . . . It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking . . . It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns, And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems . . . It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation, And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation . . . A many splendoured miracle man cannot understand And another wondrous evidence of God’s tender guiding hand”. Forever and always, our mother you will be. Family and friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev.
