Rygel, Andy, âAndy Cappâ, 83, of Johnstown. Passed away Jan. 1, 2012, at home, surrounded by his family. Born Mar. 28, 1928, in Franklin Boro. Son of the late Gregory Harry and Anastasia (Fedyna) Rygel. Also preceded in death by brothers; Michael, John, Harry, Metro, Michael II, and infant Wassel. Sisters; Anna Proctor, Mary Durica, and infant sister Eva Rygel. Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Masie (Fisher) and these children; Duane, married to Joy (Agey); Rod, married to Denise (Warner); Karen, wife of Dan Horner; Brian, married to Patty (Updyke); Linda, wife of Todd Maitland Jen Sepp, (widow of Trooper Joseph Sepp), all of Johnstown; and Nancy Rygel of Naples, FL. 21 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren. Brother of Anastasia âNellieâ Rzeszut, Johnstown. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Andy was a WWII Navy Veteran. During his enlistment, he served aboard the USS Hamul as a coxsen taking part in mercy missions in the Middle East. Retired coal miner, independent truck driver and contractor. Member of St. Maryâs Russian Orthodox Church, Central City. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and dog. Andy enjoyed farming operating his equipment. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, where Funeral Service will be held at 10 am Thursday. Very Rev. John Govrusik, Officiating.
