Alvin Samuel Selfridge

Selfridge – Alvin S., “Sam” , 72, East Taylor Township, went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2014 at St. Jude Haven. Born on February 20, 1942 in Johnstown, son of Alvin E. and Eleanor (LaSator) Selfridge. Preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Ronald Ballow. He is survived by his loving children, Chris, married to the former Janna Holsopple, East Taylor Township, Scott, married to the former Lori Stock, Ebensburg, Colleen (Selfridge) Garman and her companion Doug Garman both of East Taylor Township, and Justin Selfridge, Adams Township; grandchildren, CJ Selfridge and Lauren Selfridge; siblings Jean Selfridge, Nanty Glo, Jacqueline (Selfridge) Ballow, Johnstown, Gary, married to the former Karyn Lenhart, East Taylor Township, John, married to the former Rose Yeseonsky, Jackson Township and several nieces and nephews. Sam retired from Standard Slag and later drove for Yanko Brothers Trucking until 2004. He was a member of the SNPJ #254, Bon Air and a member of the NRA. Sam enjoyed watching Steeler football and traveling for his grandson, CJ’s hockey games. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 12:30 p.m. until time of prayer service at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, Fr. Robert Hall, Pastor. Committal will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to St Jude's Haven 1072 Mt Airy Dr, Johnstown PA 15904 in memory of Samuel.
