Krupa - Alicia Michele, 43, Fairfax, VA, passed away on February 1, 2022 at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD, after a four-and-a-half-year battle with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. She was born on September 16, 1978, in Johnstown, PA, daughter of Eugene and Christine (Pekala) Krupa. Survived by parents; sisters, Andria Krupa Voelker, Esq., Alaina (Zachary) Dworak, and Dr. Ashlea (Brady) Forshey. Also, survived by loving nephew and godson, Maverick Dworak, and loving niece, Mackenzie Dworak. She was a graduate of Richland High School (1996) and a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with BS Degrees in Biology and Nutrition (2001). After graduation from college, she was employed by Novartis Pharmaceuticals as a research scientist before transitioning to the National Institute of Health, where she worked as a genetic engineer. From there, she attended The Pennsylvania College of Optometry and received her Doctor of Optometry (2008). In addition to her work in private practice, she worked for Lasik Surgery, Andrews Air Force Base, and concluded her career as an optometrist with Visionworks in the DMV area. In her personal life, she loved spending time with her three sisters, as they were what was most important to her. She also loved being with her friends, Penn State football, attending concerts, traveling, music, dancing, spending time at the pool or beach, amusement parks, sushi, and playing with her sister’s dog, Benny, and her niece and nephew. Alicia was an adventurous, artistic, bubbly, people person - full of life and love. She had an infectious warm smile and a kind caring heart. Alicia was grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support she experienced during her battle with cancer, especially the support of her parents. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her and by those whose lives she touched. Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Memorial Services will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022, at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Johnstown, PA, Msgr. Raymond Balta. Committal will be at Richland Cemetery. The family welcomes donations in memory of Alicia. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
