Alice B. Hoy

Hoy – Alice B., 87, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Born on March 18, 1928 in Johnstown, daughter of Francis and Esther (Thomas) Bauer. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert W. Hoy Jr.; son, Ricky W. Hoy; sister, Betty Beisel, and her 2 faithful canine companions, Molly and Annie. She is survived by her loving children, Roxanne E., wife of Rick Grgurich, Allentown, PA, and Randy A. Hoy, Windber, PA; daughters-in-law, Diana Hoy, Richland Township and Judy Hoy, SC; grandchildren, Justin (Jen), Brad, Josh (Melissa), Lindsey, Chris (Samantha) and Scott; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Sarah Zimmerman and Janet Miller, both of Johnstown and several nieces and nephews. Alice was a graduate of Dale High School. She retired from the former Lee Hospital, where she was employed as the head of the EKG Department for many years. Alice was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, traveling, going to the beach with her daughter, Roxanne. Alice also enjoyed sewing, playing golf and was one of the 1st “Atta Girls”. She was instrumental in teaching all 3 of her children how to ride and show horses. Alice had an adventurous spirit and at one time even took flying lessons. She was quick to laugh, a pleasure to be around and will be missed by many. Friends will be received from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Richland Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Diana Hoy Medical Fund, C/O Roxanne Grgurich in memory of Alice.
