Zakula – A. Elaine, 87, Palmyra, PA, formerly of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2018, at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. Born on July 23, 1930 in Bradford, PA, daughter of John and E. Lucille (Mills) Johnston. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Robert Zakula; siblings, James, Evelyn Munday, Robert Johnston, John Edward and (June) Johnston.
She is survived by her loving children, Robert Gary (Donna) Zakula, Palmyra, PA and Susan Elaine (David) Seitz, Calabash, NC; grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin (Jamie) Seitz, Nicholas (Edith) Seitz, Robert Zakula Jr., and Katie (Stephen) Molczyk; great grandchild, Mylan David Seitz; several nieces and nephews; and beloved pup Sophie Marie.
Elaine was a graduate of Clarion State Teachers College. She retired from Richland High School, where she was employed as a Librarian for many years. Elaine was a member of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church; REA; NEA; PSEA; Retired Teachers Association; Salvation Army and the Johnstown Red Hats. She enjoyed crafting, needlework, reading, and traveling. Elaine also enjoyed lunch with friends, but family gatherings were her favorite.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 11th and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12th at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with Father Milan Dragovic. Committal will be at Grandview Mausoleum. The family suggests contributions be directed to either the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Building Fund, 1001 St. Clair Road, Johnstown, PA 15905 or to the Lupus Foundation, 2121 K Street NW #200, Washington, D.C. 20037, in memory of A.
